Mellisa Deller

Introducing Melissa Deller, the new WCSS S.N.A.P. Coordinator
(Seniors Needs Action Planner)
Melissa Deller joins Whistler Community Services Society (WCSS) June 1, 2010 as the Seniors Needs Action Planner (S.N.A.P.). The SNAP Coordinator will work with the Mature Action Committee (M.A.C.), the RMOW and WCSS to help produce a resource guide for seniors to let them know what resources are available to allow them to live, move and age comfortably in place. Melissa will also work in the community with resources to identify needs and help WCSS design programs to fill the needs of our seniors (and approaching seniors) needs.
With an honors degree in Gerontology and 10 years experience in her field, Melissa’s education and work experience made her a natural fit for this new WCSS position. Currently part-time at 2 days a week, Melissa will endeavor to also act as an advocate for seniors without a voice, and provide outreach services by helping seniors get connected with the resources they need.
Currently the volunteer and program coordinator for the Helping Hands program, Melissa is also responsible for ensuring Whistler residents in need receive volunteer help for any challenging life situation they need.
· Melissa Deller has spent the last 10 years working with seniors and palliative patients through her work through organizations in Squamish, Whistler and Ontario. She has developed and implemented programs to meet social, spiritual, physical and emotional needs of a group of seniors in other communities.
· She has an honors degree in Gerontology from McMaster University
